STAFF DEVELOPMENT POLICY
Staff development and training is an important part of extending our personal skills and for the continued improvement and development of the provision, thus leading to quality learning opportunities for all children.
To improve the quality of learning experiences for all children.
To aid the pre-school in developing overall aims and principles.
For staff to develop professionally and increase their own knowledge.
For staff to share their experiences and knowledge with colleagues.
To enable staff to develop a personal career plan.
Through regular staff meetings, appraisals , peer observations and group monitoring tools.
Through the findings of OFSTED.
Through Development Matters in the EYFS and Statutory Framework.
Through our annual SEF and Pre-School Development Plan.
Through Business and Welfare Forums.
TYPES OF TRAINING
Training may be …
In house – for all staff – “cascade training”
In house – for all staff – with outside agency
Individual members of staff attending extended courses leading to a recognised qualification eg. NVQ
Individual members of staff attending day courses, evening courses, workshops and conference days
Managers attending Business and Welfare forums
All staff will complete statutory training as required
Whilst every effort will be made for staff to undertake appropriate training, this will need to be within the financial restraints of the pre-school.
