SNACK TIMES, CELEBRATIONS & CELEBRATIONS AT PRE-SCHOOL
CROCODOODLE CREATIVE PRE-SCHOOL IS A ‘NUT FREE’ ZONE
At Crocodoodle Creative Pre-school we provide fresh milk and water. All children are encouraged to visit the snack table (s) during the session. Parents are asked to provide a named healthy snack. A few good ideas are a piece of fruit, crackers, breadsticks, rice cakes, cucumber/carrot sticks etc We encourage children to pour drinks and use utensils to spread, cut etc. Help is always at hand to ensure that all children have equal opportunities and time to access the area and we encourage children’s personal, social and emotional development by encouraging independence and helping each other. Staff have received training on Food hygiene/Safety which is updated every 3 years.
SPECIAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTS/ALLERGIES
All staff will be made aware of any special requirements or allergies, and this information is sought prior to a child’s entry and re-checked and updated regularly. It is the responsibility of all parents to inform the pre-school in writing of any changes e.g. allergy to a particular food product as this could be life threatening.
Snacks may be provided to link with special interests e.g. The Hungry Caterpillar, Handa’s Surprise or to link with special events e.g. Chinese New Year or Diwali and of course children’s birthdays where parents may provide a cake if they wish.
Any cakes brought in to pre-school to celebrate birthdays etc will be offered at snack time if there are no children present with allergies to that product. If there is a child present that is unable to eat this product then it will be sent home with the children for them to eat at home. Sweets will be given to children to take home and will not be eaten during pre-school hours.
